When we travelled from Jaipur to Pushkar, we had taken a bus and arrived very late at night.
When we got out of the cab (the local busses weren’t running anymore), our first impression of the city was a dark and abandoned one, with only a stray cow left and right.

The booking of our hotel we made in advance. It was merely based on the price and reviews, and we weren’t really looking at the pictures.
The hotel was a bit hidden in one of the backstreets – and not exactly located on Google Maps, – so it took some effort and help of a local to find in the dark.
And because of the late hour, we had to wake up the owner Ganesh, we introduced ourselves and went straight to bed.

An unexpected advantage we discovered the next morning: when we got up and checked out the rest of the hotel, we were pleasantly surprised by the big rooftop terrace and its wide view over the city!

This gave Rudolph the idea to make a one-take 360 video of the building, to show the people back home and others interested, the beauty of the place.
We ended up spending over a month in the hotel.. relaxing in the hammock, playing volleyball on the roof, throwing back the landed kites to the kids on the neighboring buildings, and listening to Ganesh’s Indian playlist.

We stayed in Paramount in winter (January), so the nights in the room without central heating could be quite cold. That’s something to take into account.

Another advantage of the hotel – besides the pleasant roof terrasse, friendly price and sympathetic owner, – is its location, near the lake and right in the middle of town.
When you have the opportunity to stay here, try to book a room at the front of the building. In that case you have a balcony with the same stunning view of the city as from the rooftop.
But, beware of the monkeys, who like to hang out there too!
